This is my second year of eligibility for an Astounding Award, and I’m currently a finalist for the Sir Julius Vogel award for Best New Talent – please see Selected Works for a full list of my speculative publications to date, starting in 2021.
I am also eligible for short story and poetry awards for the following works published in 2022.
Speculative short stories
Three flash pieces and one longer short story published in 2022 are free to read online:
My Mother Was Born From An Apple (Going Down Swinging) is a weird flash piece about an unpleasant mother who was born from an apple.
I Welcome The Ant Colonies in Our House (Hennepin Review) is another weird story (shortlisted for the Brave New Weird Awards) about the ants taking over our house, and how they might actually be doing us a favour.
Stains of Home (If There’s Anyone Left, Vol. 3) is about migration, loss, and intergenerational relationships. An audio version is available through the link.
Elephant Doctor (1200 words), about Siva’s quest to find a doctor who isn’t prejudiced against them, is now free to read on Julia Rios’ Worlds of Possibility.
Speculative poetry
I had two horror poems published in anthologies last year:
Transformative Love in Mother: Tales of Love and Terror
The New Children in Bloodless
Other poems
Four non-speculative poems have also been published this year, of which three are available free online.
Old Chestnuts in Native Skin
Flower/Head in HOAX (which is, arguably, 1024 poems)
Glowworms in Channel Issue 7
We, too, in summer sun was shortlisted in the Briefly Write poetry prize
